Nearly halfway through the college football season, the real national title contenders are beginning to assert themselves atop the rankings
We’ve gathered a handful of our esteemed Gator Country members and asked them to pick their own Top 25, so we can put together our very own Top 25 poll!
We continue the season with 28 pollsters taking part, and today we debut our Week 5 poll!
For the second straight week, there was plenty of movement in the Top 5 of the Gator Country Top 25, as Alabama jumped LSU to the No. 1 spot in the poll after shellacking Florida in the Swamp 38-10. The Crimson Tide received one more first-place vote than LSU, who slipped to No. 2 this week.
Oklahoma held its spot at No. 3, as Wisconsin jumped above Stanford with an impressive home win over No. 14 Nebraska. The Cardinal rounded out the Top 5 at No. 5.
Boise State and Oklahoma State held their spots at No. 6 and No. 7, respectively, while a trio of new teams entered the Top 10 this week.
Clemson jumped all the way up from No. 14 to No. 8 after an impressive win over No. 20 Virginia Tech, while Oregon jumped two spots from No. 11 to No. 9 to get back into the Top 10 after falling out with its season-opening loss to LSU.
Rounding out the Top 10 was Texas, who stayed perfect in a battle of unbeatens with Iowa State, jumping all the way up from No. 17 to No. 10.
Other notable rankings were Arkansas at No. 12 and South Carolina falling to No. 15 after a loss to Auburn, who re-entered the Top 25 at No. 19.
Florida checked in at No. 16, down from No. 9 after a 4-0 start to the season. Florida’s biggest rival, Florida State, fell from No. 24 to unranked in this week’s edition of the Gator Country Top 25.
