Florida opened its fall exhibition schedule with a 10-6 win over USF on Friday night at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa.
The Gators hit five home runs in the victory, with Ethan Surowiec and Drew Dickerson each going deep twice. Caden McDonald also homered and closed out the game with a scoreless inning on the mound.
Florida erupted for 10 runs over the first three innings, including a six-run third, before being held scoreless the rest of the way.
Ten pitchers took the mound for the Gators, with none throwing more than one inning. Florida’s pitching staff allowed eight hits and nine walks while striking out 13 batters.
Seventeen Florida players recorded at least one plate appearance. The Gators totaled 11 hits, seven of which went for extra bases.
Defensively, Florida did not commit an error.
Outfielder Cash Strayer, infielder Kyle McDaniel and outfielder Jacob Kendall did not participate in the scrimmage while recovering from minor injuries.
