In the past months we have checked in on former Gators playing in the NBA and overseas, and now it’s time to check back in on some guys who transferred out. For some of you, if someone was once a Gator they’re always a Gator and you’ll still casually cheer them on, and for some of you–once you leave, you’re Gator bait. Or, you want to see what kind of players these guys turned into to know about how they were used in Gainesville and if they should have been recruited in the first place.
Whatever the case may be, here are how former Gators who transferred out played at their new homes in 2025-26.
Sam Alexis
Indiana

Indiana was desperate for any semblance of size in that offseason and went for Alexis despite his rocky season with the Gators. It was a tough season for the Hoosiers but Alexis was able to start most games and play a key role, and notably shot 71% from the field largely only taking high-value shots in the paint. A player in the class of 2022, he’s likely to return to college for a fifth year.
Kowacie Reeves Jr.
Georgia Tech

After three consecutive seasons averaging 9 or 10 points Reeves had a big breakout for Georgia Tech, shouldering a lot of the offensive load for a team that really needed it. While upping his production, he was also able to have his best three-point shooting season which earned him a ton of NBA workouts in the offseason.
Riley Kugel
UCF

Kugel first left Florida for Mississippi State before moving to UCF, and that move appeared to be a good one. He had the best season of his career improving the jumpshot and guarding notably better, helping UCF make the NCAA Tournament. Kugel is likely to be back for a 5th year with the new eligibility ruling.
Kajus Kublickas
Pacific

Kublickas was able to play a key role in the rotation for a Pacific team that overachieved relative to expectations, largely staying on the floor due to his ball pressure and willingness to move the ball. Offensively he struggled, but he did enough of the other stuff to still have a solid season. Following the season he transferred to South Dakota.
Aleks Szymczyk
Cal State Northridge

Szymczyk went to Charlotte after Florida and didn’t see the floor much, and things didn’t go much better at Cal State Northridge as he continues to try and find his footing in college basketball.

Remember this guy? After his time at Florida he spent a few years off the radar before popping back up at Hampton. He didn’t play a massive role, though he did start for a couple of weeks.
