Last Saturday, the Florida Gators opened its season with a win over FAU but it was also the first time this fall for recruits to visit the Swamp and the coaching staff.
2028 defensive lineman Zylen Little (6-1, 290, Tampa, FL. Carrollwood Day) was on campus and got to speak with several coaches including defensive line coach Gerald Chatman and defensive coordinator Brad White.
“It was great,” Little said of his visit to Florida on Saturday. “I got a chance to talk to Coach Sumrall, Coach Chatman, and Coach White again. I enjoyed the game and I also got to speak with Caleb Banks, he gave me some great advice and talked about what it means to be a Gator.”
Little was impressed by the energy inside the Swamp on Saturday as Jon Sumrall kicked off his tenure as head coach.
“I love the environment,” he said of the atmosphere in the Swamp. “The Swamp is special, it’s so loud and energetic.”
While watching the game, Little paid close attention to the Gators’ defensive line and he liked how they played against the Owls.
“They’re big and disruptive,” Little said on the play of the defense. “They’re going to dominate most teams this year. I was watching the interior guys mostly during the game.”
After the game, Little spoke with Chatman about why the Gators want him in the program and where he could play at.
“I spoke to him, and he loves my twitchy get off,” he said on Chatman’s message to him. “He likes the leverage I play with and how violent I play on the inside.”
Sumrall also spoke with Little after the game and he left a big impression on the defensive lineman.
“I think he’s great,” Little said on his impression of Coach Sumrall. “I think he’s going to have Florida back competing for championships. He was just very complementary of my game also.”
Now that Little has visited campus, the defensive lineman says he likes several things about the Gators but he’s still talking to several other schools.
“I’m very interested in Florida,” he said of his interest in the Gators. “I like Coach Chatman and Coach Sumrall. I love that’s 2 ½ hours from my family but I’m also talking to Notre Dame, Auburn, FSU, Miami, Tennessee, Nebraska, and more schools.”
