Florida baseball isn’t just making waves in the transfer portal. The Gators also landed a significant commitment from the high school ranks, flipping 2026 outfielder Braylen Montgomery from Oklahoma’s recruiting class.
Montgomery is ranked as the No. 1 outfielder in Louisiana and the No. 91 overall prospect in the 2026 class.
Walker High School (LA) does not appear to have publicly submitted its baseball statistics, but according to GeauxPreps, he hit .424 with six home runs, 29 RBI, and 19 stolen bases as a junior in 2025. He helped lead Walker High School to the Class 5A State Tournament and earned First Team All-State honors from multiple publications.
As a sophomore in 2024, Montgomery hit .373 with seven home runs, 38 RBI, and 19 stolen bases in his first varsity season.
He also played travel ball for the USA Prime National Detroit Tigers and was selected to the 2025 All-American Classic.
Last measured at 6-foot-3, 217 pounds, Montgomery is a physically gifted athlete with tremendous upside. At the Super 60 Pro Showcase in February, he posted a 6.55-second 60-yard dash, a 3.69-second 30-yard dash, and a top speed of 22.1 mph.
In September 2025, the Louisiana native showcased his power and bat speed, recording a 99.8 mph average exit velocity, a 107.3 mph max exit velocity, and an 80.4 mph max bat speed.
He also recorded a max batted-ball distance of 407 feet during the Super 60 Pro Showcase.
Montgomery has built a strong relationship with newly hired assistant coach Todd Butler, a fellow Louisiana native and former Oklahoma recruiting coordinator.
Of course, Florida will need to get Montgomery through the MLB Draft, as is the case with any highly touted high school prospect. But given his relationship with Butler and the timing of his flip late in the recruiting cycle, there is reason to believe he could make it to campus.
