LB Ja’Bios Smith commits to the Florida Gators over Texas A&M

The Florida Gators picked up their 17th commit of the Class of 2027 on Friday from one of their official visitors.

Linebacker Ja’Bios Smith (6-3, 195, Swainsboro, GA. High) committed to Florida over Georgia and Texas A&M On Friday.

“Committed,” Smith posted on social media.

Smith first visited Gainesville back in April and it was during that trip he was able to get comfortable with the coaching staff.

“I’ve been wanting to get down for the longest,” Smith said. “So, I got down here had a great time getting to see the staff, and I got to see the facility once again. Also, a lot of the coaches played linebacker, the head coach, the defensive coordinator, and Coach [Greg] Gasparato so I feel like they will put in a lot of work with the group.”

Smith is the first linebacker to commit in the class and the Gators would like to add at least one more at the position.

Linebackers Ellis McGaskin and Tre Geathers are currently on official visits with Smith this weekend and those are the two targets the Gators are focused on to finish off the linebacker class.

Smith joins a defensive class that includes defensive backs Amare Nugent, Aamaury Fountain, and Kailib Dillard as well defensive linemen De’Voun Kendrick, Stive-Bentley Keumajou and Cain Van Norden.
