NFL Draft: Jake Slaughter selected 63rd overall by Los Angeles Chargers

Florida Gators offensive lineman Jake Slaughter has been selected 63rd overall in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft.

The selection marks the 43rd Florida offensive lineman drafted since 1967, and the first since O’Cyrus Torrence in 2023.

After minimal playing time in 2022–23, Slaughter broke out as a redshirt sophomore, earning a 75.9 PFF grade across 622 snaps—ranking No. 14 among FBS centers.

After starting all 13 games the following season, Slaughter led the Gators’ offense with 800 snaps, earning an 81.1 pass-block grade (fifth nationally among centers) and a 79.0 run-block grade (seventh among centers), both team highs.

Slaughter allowed just one sack and nine pressures in 2024, earning AP First Team All-American honors for his efforts.

The 6-foot-5, 303-pound center returned for his fifth and final collegiate season in 2025 and delivered another strong year, earning second-team All-America honors from USA Today and The Athletic, along with first-team All-SEC recognition from the AP. Slaughter allowed just four pressures and one sack last season, helping him earn an 84.1 pass-block grade.

At the NFL Combine, Slaughter posted a 5.10-second 40-yard dash (1.74 split), a 32.5-inch vertical, and a 9-foot-2 broad jump. His production score of 92 led all centers.

WHAT THEY’RE GETTING IN SLAUGHTER

Jake Slaughter has been the backbone of the Florida program over the last few years. As a three-star recruit, Slaughter worked his way into early playing time and never let it go. His rise from under-the-radar recruit to AP First Team All-American is a testament to his work ethic and dedication.

His high football IQ is probably his best trait. Slaughter is among the best at identifying pre-snap movement and adjusting protections. He’s stronger than you might think and generally plays with good balance. Slaughter’s technique sets him apart, as he consistently plays with low pad level, strong leverage, and powerful hands. He also has the athleticism to climb to the second level and impact linebackers in the run game.
