Junior forward Alex Condon surpassed 1,000 career points Tuesday night, becoming the 58th member of Florida’s 1,000-point club.
Entering the contest against South Carolina with 988 career points, Condon needed 12 to reach the milestone. After scoring eight in the first half, the Perth, Australia, native converted a layup with 17:27 remaining in the second half, giving him 13 points on the night and 1,001 for his career.
“He’s a great player,” head coach Todd Golden said on Condon last week. “People want to poke at things about our team or about our personnel when we’re not doing everything perfectly, but you look at the big picture, and how many guys in America would you trade Alex Condon for? I can’t think of any at that spot.”
“And he’s been a huge winner for us,” Golden added. “It’s his defense, it’s his winning plays, it’s his effort that’s unmatched, and it’s why he’s such a great player.”
As a true freshman in 2023–24, Condon played a key role off the bench for the Gators, averaging 7.7 points and 6.4 rebounds in just over 20 minutes per game. The 6’11, 230 pound forward earned SEC All-Freshman honors, leading all league freshmen in rebounding average and ranking first with 45 blocked shots — a total that also led Florida.
Condon started 35 games during Florida’s national championship season, averaging 10.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. He earned All-SEC honors from USA Today (second team) and the league’s coaches (third team), along with first-team NABC All-District recognition.
Across 25 games for the No.12 Florida Gators, Condon holds career highs in points per game (13.3), rebounds per game (8.0), assists per game (3.3), and blocks per game (1.5) while shooting a career high 51.1% from the field.
