The Florida Gators are mostly focused on the transfer portal but on Monday they added a JUCO prospect to the Class of 2026.
Defensive back Elijah Owens (6-3, 210, Citronelle, AL. Mississippi Gulf Coast JUCO) committed to Florida over Kentucky on Monday after visiting Gainesville over the weekend.
Owens who was a freshman in 2025 played in 11 games at MGCCC and accounted for 65 tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss, one interception and three pass break-ups while playing safety and nickel.
The Alabama native was All-State his senior year when he accounted for 48 tackles, 3 interceptions, and was named to the AHSAA All-Star game.
Owens was someone that defensive coordinator Brad White and safeties coach Chris Collins discovered while at Kentucky and they were pushing for his commitment while in Lexington.
Now that Owens has committed to Florida, he has three years left to play and has a redshirt year available if needed.
