Penn State OL TJ Shanahan commits to the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators hosted transfers on campus for the first time under Jon Sumrall this weekend and that included several big-time players.

Penn State offensive line transfer TJ Shanahan Jr (6-4, 316) committed to Florida on Tuesday morning.

Shanahan visited Gainesville this weekend as he was coached last year by new offensive line coach Phil Trautwein.

Shanahan who was a major target of the Gators coming out of high school moved to Texas and committed to Texas A&M before transferring to Penn State.

The offensive lineman has ties to the Gators as his cousin is former Gators offensive lineman Jon Halapio who played in the NFL after leaving Florida.

Shanahan is an interior offensive lineman who should figure into the starting mix next season as the Gators look to improve an offensive line that struggled last season.

The Gators are expected to add at least three offensive linemen in the transfer portal with two of those guys being tackles.
