Georgia Tech transfer quarterback Aaron Philo is expected to transfer to the Florida Gators, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports. Philo is currently in Gainesville on a visit.
The 6’2, 220-pound quarterback will be a redshirt sophomore in 2026 with three years of eligibility remaining.
Philo has played in eight games across two seasons at Georgia Tech, completing 59 of 102 passes (57.8%) for 938 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions. The Bogart, Georgia native has complied 95 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown on 16 attempts.
In his lone career start, Philo tossed for 373 yards in a 59-12 win vs. Gardner-Webb on September 6th, 2025, recording a touchdown pass and an interception in the contest.
Philo’s familiarity with Florida’s offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner played a large role in this recruitment.
Rated as a three-star high school prospect by all the major recruiting outlets, Philo became Georgia’s all-time passing leader with 13,922 yards, breaking the record previously held by current Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
Philo ranks third in Georgia high school history with 159 touchdown passes and tied Georgia H.S. single-season record with 56 touchdown passes as a senior in 2023.
As a three-year starter, Philo led Prince Avenue to back-to-back state championships as a junior and senior (2022 and 2023).
Philo is expected to compete with redshirt freshman quarterback Tramell Jones Jr. for the starting quarterback position.
