Tennessee dismantles Florida 31-11 in The Swamp

Saturday night was about as bad as it gets in Gainesville—for Gator fans, at least. No. 20 Tennessee dismantled Florida 31–11, securing its first win inside The Swamp since 2003. The Gators dropped to 3–8 (2–6 SEC) on the 2025 season.

Tennessee scored a touchdown on their first four possessions of the game, jumping out to an early 28-0 lead which grew to 31-0 at halftime. From this point forward, the only worry was whether the Gators would extend the country’s longest active scoring streak, which they accomplished with a 46 yard field goal from Trey Smack with 2:04 to play in the third quarter. Florida has avoided a shutout in 472 consecutive games—one of the only positives from week 13.

The Gators were simply dominated in every phase of the game: offense, defense, and special teams. Tennessee outgained Florida 452-261 in the contest. Florida’s 11 points scored mark the fewest at home since their 27-2 loss to FSU in 2015.

Sophomore running back Jadan Baugh was the only highlight offensively, which has been the case multiple times this season. Baugh ran for 96 yards on 18 attempts while recording Florida’s only touchdown of the game, a 33 yard catch from DJ Lagway with 8:15 left to play.

Baugh’s 904 rushing yards on the season is the most for a Gator running back since Jordan Scarlett in 2016 (889). Baugh needs 96 rushing yards against FSU next week to become Florida’s first 1,000 yard rusher since Kelvin Taylor in 2015.

Florida couldn’t do anything defensively until the Vols took their foot off the gas with a commanding four score lead. The Gators were whooped at the line of scrimmage, resulting in 248 rushing yards from the Vols. Florida has allowed 718 rushing yards in the last three weeks, a shockingly bad stat after a strong start to the season defensively. Tennessee was driving the pile and their running backs exceled at creating yards after contact.

The Gators are set to face in-state rival Florida State in the season finale next week. The Seminoles are searching for bowl eligibility at 5-6 on the season.
