A deeper look at Devin Moore’s play through five games

The best ability is availability. That phrase is especially true for senior cornerback Devin Moore, who has yet to play in more than seven games in a single season since joining the program back in 2022. Moore has battled constant injuries throughout his career including multiple season ending shoulder surgeries.

So far, so good in 2025. Moore has played 236 snaps this season and could surpass his career high snap total for a single season (278) with a full workload on Saturday night vs. Texas A&M.

Through five games this season, Moore has allowed just six receptions for 47 yards on 14 targets, posting the 13th best coverage grade in the country amongst cornerbacks, according to Pro Football Focus.

Moore hasn’t allowed a touchdown in coverage this season while recording one interception and two pass break ups.

Arguably the best game of his career came in Florida’s upset victory over Texas in week six. Moore recorded four tackles, his first career sack, and one interception while allowing just one catch for 11 yards on five targets.

Moore picked off Arch Manning midway through the 4th quarter to help seal the win.

“Big time play, the interception. I mean, clinic tape, speed turn, acceleration, high point, ball skills,” head coach Billy Napier said on Moore. “Don’t forget, this guy started his first-ever game here as a rookie, right. So we’ve always felt strongly about what he can be, he just hasn’t gotten healthy and hasn’t stayed healthy. I think if he can stay healthy, we’ll look up at the end of the year here and he could be one of the elite corners in the country, in my opinion.”

It’s never been a talent issue for the Naples, Florida native. Moore has spent a lot of time working on his body and nutrition to improve his health.

“I think he’s added a lot of lean muscle to his frame. I think he’s attacked some of those deficiencies that he had, he’s learned how to eat the right way, I think sleep contributes to that,” Napier said on how Moore improved his health. “And then in general, I just think learning how to be a professional and attack the prehab, all the work you gotta do before practice to get your body ready, how to turn it around week-to-week. So, it comes with maturity and experience.”

With starting cornerback Dijon Johnson out for the year, it’s imperative that Moore remains healthy so Florida avoids losing their top two corners.

The 6’3, 198-pound cornerback has everything you look for in an NFL prospect: Length, speed, athleticism, versatility, coverage skills, ball skills. He hasn’t been on the NFL radar due to his injury concerns, but if Moore can put a full season on tape, I expect his draft buzz to skyrocket.
