Last weekend, several of the Florida Gators’ commits were in town as the Gators fell to South Florida in the Swamp.
Linebacker commit Malik Morris (6-1, 260, Lakeland, FL. High) was on campus and he believes the team needs to go back to work to fix the mistakes made.
“It’s small details, you know we got to go back to the drawing board and execute,” Morris said of his visit to Florida on Saturday. “I just feel like we played down to their level. We just have to go back to the drawing board and do better. The small things add up so just working on the small things.”
One thing that stood out to Morris that was positive was the play of fellow linebacker Myles Graham.
“He does great, I played against Myles Graham,” he said on Graham having a good game against USF. “I know the type of person he is and he did great to me.”
After talking to the coaches and players after the game, Morris believes that the Gators will put this game in the rearview and move forward.
“I think we’re going to bounce back,” Morris said. “I’m not even going to say, I think, I know we’re going to bounce back. I think it’s a win a win situation, we needed this, I would rather lose this week then next week.”
Morris noticed after the game was over that the team was motivated to right the ship like they did last year.
“I see the character and the energy coach gives off, and how they receive it,” he said on seeing the team want to respond. “It’s up lifting, you just have to be there for your teammates.”
Linebackers coach Robert Bala met with Morris on Saturday as he continues to recruit the Lakeland native despite his commitment.
“We had a conversation before and after the game,” he said on talking with Robert Bala. “He was talking about the defensive plan, and he was talking to me about my game on Friday.”
Despite his commitment to Florida, others are still trying to get in with Morris but he says his recruitment is over.
“It’s just Florida for me,” Morris said. “I’ve been hearing stuff from other schools, but I just don’t respond. I’m locked in with the Gators and that’s the only way it’s going to stay.”
