Ole Miss infielder Ethan Surowiec has committed to the Florida Gators, multiple sources told Gator Country. Surowiec marks Florida’s ninth addition through the transfer portal this offseason. As a true freshman in 2025, Surowiec went 6-16 (.375) at the plate with two home runs and eight RBI across three starts. Surowiec will have three years of eligibility remaining.
After limited playing time with the Rebels, Surowiec exploded in summer ball with the Duluth Huskies of the Northwoods League, holding a .427 batting average with seven home runs and 36 RBI in 96 at bats. The Gulfport, Mississippi native has added 15 doubles and two triples with the Huskies, leading to an impressive .844 slugging percentage and 1.357 OPS. Surowiec holds a .513 on base percentage and has eight stolen bases this summer.
Surowiec struck out in seven of his 16 at bats with Ole Miss, a strikeout percentage of 43.75. In 96 at bats in the Northwoods League, Surowiec has struck out 21 times for a strikeout percentage of 21.8.
Surowiec ranked as the 89th overall player and the 7th third baseman in the 2024 recruiting class. Playing for Gulfport High School, Surowiec hit .375 with nine home runs in his senior season and was a two-time All-State recipient.
The 6’1, 220 pounder projects as a corner infielder but has displayed versatility early in his career, playing third base, first base, shortstop, and right field for Duluth over the summer. At Ole Miss, Surowiec was the designated hitter in all three of his starts but saw time at first base and left field off the bench, posting a 1.000 fielding percentage across 11 putouts.
