This past weekend, the Florida Gators hosted 18 prospects on campus, including several guys that the Gators were leading for heading into the weekend.
Defensive lineman JaReylan McCoy (6-6, 245, Tupelo, MS. High) was on campus and had the chance to spend a lot of time around head coach Billy Napier.
“It was good,” McCoy said of his visit to Florida. “We were able to talk to Coach Napier and spend time with the players. Being able to see and feel how I was looking in the uniform was what I wanted to see. I wanted to see if I felt comfortable in the uniform, and I did.”
McCoy instantly noticed the atmosphere at Florida was something different and he believes that everyone in the building is working together.
“The brotherhood is crazy,” he said of the highlight of the visit. “They’re building something special over there. I mean we’re all football players, of course some people have bigger names, but we all love the game and we’re all doing the same hard work. At the end of the day, they kind of see their younger self in us and want to put us in the same situation as they are.”
Florida’s assistant coaches talk with McCoy on a daily basis and they never miss the chance to let him know that he’s wanted.
“Just keep doing what I’m doing,” McCoy said on the message from the coaches. “They said anytime that I’m ready to come be a Gator, they’re going to welcome me. They tell me every day and every chance they get that I’m a priority for them. We could be sitting there eating breakfast and they’re going to let me know that I’m a priority for them.”
Napier also made sure to let McCoy know that he’s wanted in Gainesville and that he’s ready whenever the lineman is ready.
“Coach Napier says the same, come be a Gator,” he said on the message from Napier. “It feels good to hear that from the head coach.”
Heading into the weekend, McCoy had the Gators on top in his recruitment and he says that didn’t change after the visit.
“Florida is on top,” McCoy said. “They have built the best relationship with me, the player they have, it’s a brotherhood, it’s crazy there and leaves me speechless.”
