Baker says the Florida Gators made a move in his recruitment

Last weekend, six out-of-state prospects, including a top running back target from Georgia, took an official visit to Gainesville.

Running back Carsyn Baker (6-1, 195, Fairburn, GA. Langston Hughes) was on campus, and Florida impressed the running back.

“I feel like Florida set a very high standard to every other official visit I’m going on,” Baker said of his official visit to Florida. “I was very impressed by them, they definitely jumped up my charts a lot, I had a great time.”

Running backs coach Jabbar Juluke spent a lot of time with Baker this weekend, and the running back left the visit with high praise for the assistant coach.

“Coach Juluke is a great person, a great coach,” he said of talking with Coach Juluke. “He’s been great with developing backs and everything like that. I felt great on the weekend. Me and Coach Juluke had a great time during our one-on-one sessions, and I learned a lot this weekend from him.”

Head coach Billy Napier also spent time around Baker and explained to him how he would fit into Florida’s offense.

“I got a good amount of time to hang around with Coach Billy Napier and also meeting and talking to him,” Baker said of meeting with Napier. “He was saying that he’s going to push me in practice and how I can be great in the offense.”

Napier and Juluke explained to Baker that the Gators like to run several guys at the running back position and that’s something that the running back is used to.

“That’s great for me because you know the running back life is basically not long,” he said on Florida rotating backs. “Everything preserving and saving your body is a great thing. At my high school we have a dual also, so they do the same thing that we do in high school.”

Heading into the visit, the Gators were outside of Baker’s top five but he now says Florida is among those top schools.

“They definitely sit up on one of those spots,” Baker said of Florida now being in his top five. “I’m dropping some schools and I’m going to drop a school down and stuff like that. So, I put Florida inside of it, they impressed a lot this weekend.”

Next up for Baker will be several more official visits but he says that schedule may change some.

“I have Clemson on May 30th, Florida State on June 6th, Ohio State June 13th and South Carolina on June 20th,” he said on his official visit schedule. “But with those days, it’s going to be a little shaken up and I’m going to cancel one of them.”
