The Florida Gators picked up a big commitment on Tuesday for the Class of 2025 just one day ahead of National Signing Day.
Defensive back Onis Konanbanny (6-1, 180, Columbia, SC. Heathwood Hall Episcopal School) flipped his commitment from Tennessee to Florida on Tuesday afternoon.
“I want to say a special thank you to my mom,” Konanbanny said. “For the next three or four years I will be signing to the University of Florida, GO Gators.”
Konanbanny was close to signing with the Gators in December after he took an official visit but he decided to wait until February so he could take another visit to Gainesville.
The defensive back took that visit to Gainesville in January where he was able to shadow current Gators and also meet with the coaching staff.
Konanbanny knows several Gators already as he was teammates with Vernell Brown III and Trammel Jones with the South Florida Express 7-on-7 team.
The defensive back finished his senior year with 56 tackles, four tackles for a loss, one interception and three fumble recoveries.
Konanbanny joins an impressive defensive back class that includes Ben Hanks Jr., Hylton Stubbs, and Lagonza Hayward and all of three of those guys are already on campus with the team.
The defensive back had been committed to Tennessee since August but he will now sign with the Gators during the late signing day period on Wednesday.
