RB signee Byron Louis called it a “blessing” to be a Gator

Seven Florida Gators signees and commits are playing in the Under Armour All-American this week in Orlando and it’s the most of any school in the country.

Florida running back signee Byron Louis (5-11, 200, Fort Lauderdale, FL. American Heritage) is one of those seven and he explained when he knew he was flipping to the Gators from the Seminoles.

“Honestly, it was crazy because when I was on my official visit, I literally sat and told my parents that I would be stupid not to come here,” Louis said on flipping to Florida. “That’s why me flipping to Florida was so sentimental because I felt like the guys around me on the visit with me they felt the same way. To watch them go through with that, it was a blessing.”

Louis knows that when he gets to Florida he will have to compete with other running backs but he believes he fits the system Billy Napier runs in Gainesville.

“I love how Coach Napier likes his backs to get downhill,” Louis said on how he fits into Florida’s offense. “Also being able to stretch it horizontally but also when they stretch it, the backs are still getting their foot in the ground. I like how they run out of pistol, everything they preach and do is just the same thing I’ve learning in high school with the zones and gap schemes.”

When Louis gets to Gainesville he will know several of his teammates because of meeting them throughout the process but two guys in particular he’s close with.

“Honestly it’s just so crazy how a lot of those guys you meet in 7-on-7 circuit or the future 50,” he said, knowing guys in the class already. “Or you meet these guys one time at a college game, and you never know that you could be standing next to your future teammate, future brother. It’s a blessing how everything transpired especially between me TJ [Trammel Jones] and VB [Vernell Brown]. Us three we were close on the 7-on-7 circuit and we took that visit to Florida State together and VB stuck with his decision to Florida.”
