How are former Gators performing in 2024?

Over 50 scholarship players have left Florida through the transfer portal since Billy Napier arrived in Gainesville. Gator Country highlights how some of those players are performing through three weeks of the 2024 season.

DL Chris McClellan (Missouri)

Through three games with Missouri, McClellan has combined for 10 tackles, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one pass deflection. McClellan is a starting defensive tackle for the Tigers and grades as Missouri’s best defender, according to Pro Football Focus. He’s totaled four pressures including two QB hurries, the most amongst Missouri defensive tackles.

OL Micah Mazzccua (Nebraska)

Micah Mazzccua has played 126 snaps across two games for Nebraska and holds an offensive grade of 64.6. He’s allowed one pressure in 67 pass blocking snaps. He grades as Nebraska’s 4th best run blocker among offensive linemen.

RB Trevor Etienne (Georgia)

Etienne has played in two games for Georgia after serving a one game suspension to start the season. He’s rushed 24 times for 157 yards, an average of 6.5 yards per carry. Etienne has also added three receptions for 25 yards. Etienne grades as Georgia’s 5th best offensive player but holds the highest grade among skill position players.

EDGE Princely Umanmielen (Ole Miss)

In three games with Ole Miss, Umanmielen’s totaled five tackles and one sack. Umanmielen leads Ole Miss with 12 pressures and four QB hits, holding the 2nd best pressure grade on the team. Umanmielen holds an impressive defensive grade of 90.1, the third highest on Ole Miss’s defense. He has also not recorded a missed tackle. Umanmielen grades as the 4th best edge defender in all of college football.

EDGE Antwaun Powell-Ryland (Viginia Tech)

Antwuan Powell-Ryland is continuing to put together a successful career with Virginia Tech, combining for three sacks and eight tackles through three games with the Hokies. Powell-Ryland leads VT with 12 pressures including one QB hit. He ranks as VT’s top defender, according to PFF.

WR Xzaiver Henderson (Cincinnati)

Xzaiver Henderson has hauled in 23 receptions for 292 yards and a touchdown through three games with Cincinnati. His PFF grade of 79.9 is the highest on the Bearcats.

CB Jaydon Hill (Texas A&M)

After playing in only five saps in the season opener vs Notre Dame, Hill’s role has expanded each week. His increased snap count hasn’t resulted in production, however. Hill has allowed a team high eight receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown on nine targets. Hill’s defensive grade of 51.4 ranks 39th out of 41 defenders that have seen the field for Texas A&M.

LB Scooby Williams (Texas A&M)

Scooby Williams has played in two games for the Aggies and has six tackles and two missed tackles. He’s generated three pressures including one QB hit. His PFF grade of 67.7 is considered just above average.

S Donovan McMillon (Pitt)

Donovan McMillon has totaled 32 tackles, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one interception through three games with Pittsburgh. McMillon leads the Panthers with seven missed tackles and has allowed eight receptions for 142 yards and a touchdown. His defensive grade of 57.1 ranks 28th out of 35 defenders that have seen the field for Pitt.

OL Josh Braun (Arkansas)

Josh Braun has allowed six pressures, two QB hits, and one sack across 120 pass blocking snaps. He is playing right guard for the Razorbacks.

CB Jalen Kimber (Penn State)

Kimber has allowed four receptions for 58 yards and no touchdowns on eight targets. Kimber has five tackles and one pass break up across 97 snaps and two games. His NFL passer rating against is 74.0, the lowest in Penn State’s secondary.

OL Richie Leonard (FSU)

Richie Leonard has allowed five pressures including one sack and one QB hit across 121 pass blocking snaps for FSU. He grades as FSU’s 2nd best pass blocker amongst offensive players with more than 30 snaps. Leonard has struggled in particular with zone run blocking.

WR Caleb Douglas (Texas Tech)

Caleb Douglas has hauled in 10 receptions for 137 yards and one touchdown through three games with Texas Tech. Douglas has the 3rd most snaps among Red Raider wide receivers.

QB Max Brown (Charlotte)

Max Brown started the first two games of the season for Charlotte before suffering an injury. He completed 30 of 57 passes for 368 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Brown has struggled under pressure, completing just 5 of his 15 passes when facing pressure.

S Kamari Wilson (Arizona State)

Kamari Wilson has played in just one of three games for Arizona State, logging 24 snaps in week one against Wyoming. He recorded one tackle and created two pressures.

DE Chief Borders (Pitt)

Chief Borders is playing a reserve role for Pittsburgh in 2024, logging 49 snaps through three games. He’s totaled two tackles and earned half of a sack against Kent State in week one.

RB Nay’Quan Wright (USF)

Nay’Quan Wright is splitting RB duties with Kelly Joiner and Ta’Ron Keith at USF. Wright has ran the ball 33 times for 188 yards and two touchdowns, an average of 5.7 yards per carry. Wright had an impressive showing against Alabama in week two, rushing 11 times for 64 yards while adding three receptions for 11 yards.

DB Jordan Young (Cincinnati)

Jordan Young is leading Cincinnati in snaps with 155 across three games. He also grades as Cincinnati’s 5th best defender. Young has combined for 13 tackles while missing just one. He’s allowed just five receptions for 31 yards on 12 targets. He’s also been credited with three pass break ups while primarily playing outside corner. His NFL passer rating against is 49.3.
