Defensive back Ben Hanks Jr. commits to the Florida Gators over Miami

The Florida Gators picked up their 13th commitment of the Class of 2025 on Friday when a big instate legacy target committed to Florida.

Defensive back Ben Hanks Jr. (6-1, 170, Miami, FL. Booker T. Washington) committed to Florida over Louisville and Miami on Friday.

Hanks is the son of former Gators’ linebacker Ben Hanks as now the coaching staff has two legacy commits as Hanks joins Vernell Brown III in the class.

The defensive back is considered one of the top prospects at his position and Hanks was a guy that the Gators were trailing for until defensive backs coach Will Harris got on campus.

As a junior Hanks was an All-Dade selection after he collected 38 tackles, six interceptions including three that he returned for a touchdown. Hanks also blocked three field goals for Booker T. Washington.

In three years at Booker T. Washington Hanks has accounted for 11 interceptions while playing cornerback.

Hanks is the first defensive back commit in the class and the Gators hope to add at least one more corner and a couple of safeties in the class and defensive backs coach Will Harris has the Gators’ in the mix for several top targets at the position.
