Alabama LB commit Myles Johnson impressed by his Jr. Day visit

On Saturday, several prospects committed to other schools visited Gainesville for junior day as the Florida Gators coaching staff hoped to gain momentum with those guys.

Alabama linebacker commit Myles Johnson (6-1, 220, Brewton, AL. T.R. Miller) was on campus and hopes to return for another visit.

“It was great,” Johnson said of his visit to Florida on Saturday. “It was first visit outside of Alabama; it really opened my eyes. I would definitely like to come back sometime.”

While on campus, Johnson picked up an offer from the Gators and he says he liked several things about the visit.

“Just the way they want to get to know you personally,” he said on what stood out about the visit. “The investments that are being made here, they really want to teach you and develop you as a player and as a person. That’s the biggest take away of the visit.”

Multiple coaches spent time with Johnson on Saturday and all of them had a message for the Alabama commit.

“I had contact with all of them,” Johnson said on the coaches he talked to. “The one I had most with was Coach Gibbs, I met Coach [Austin] Armstrong and Coach [Ron] Roberts, it was pretty good to meet those guys and see what they had to offer me.”

New linebackers coach Ron Roberts met with Johnson for the first time on Saturday and explained what he could do to help the linebacker.

“He’s a great guy,” he said on his impressions of Roberts. “For the little time I had with him, he talked about wanting to teach you and give you the best tools to succeed.”

After the visit, Johnson says the Gators made a big impression on him and he likes the relationships he’s building with the staff.

“It really set the bar high for places outside of Alabama,” Johnson said of Florida. “I really liked the environment and the people.”
