The Florida Gators addressed another need in the transfer portal by signing Wisconsin WR transfer Chimere Dike on Wednesday afternoon. Dike took an official visit to Florida on December 8th and has one year of eligibility remaining.
The 6-1, 200-pound receiver has accumulated 1,478 receiving yards and nine touchdowns throughout four years with the Badgers. 2022 was Dike’s most productive season, hauling in 47 catches for 689 yards and six touchdowns while earning an All-Big Ten honorable mention for his efforts. Dike posted an offensive grade of 74.4 in 2022, which was Wisconsin’s 4th highest offensive grade amongst players with 150+ snaps.
Dike was teammates with current Gators’ quarterback Graham Mertz for three seasons at Wisconsion (2020-2022). The senior receiver joins a Gators’ WR room that consists of Eugene Wilson, Andy Jean, Marcus Burke, Ja’Quavion Fraziars, Aidan Mizell, and Kahliel Jackson as well as freshmen receivers Jerrae Hawkins and TJ Abrams.
The Gators added an experienced receiver who has a combined 2,074 snaps in his collegiate career. The Wisconsin native logged 374 snaps or more in every season with Wisconsin.
It remains unclear whether the Gators will look to target a second transfer portal wide receiver.
