Mincey has the Florida Gators up there following his OV

The Florida Gators had several instate visitors on campus last weekend for official visits including several guys who have been on campus a lot.

Defensive back Zavier Mincey (6-3, 180, Daytona Beach, FL. Mainland) was on campus this past weekend and enjoyed getting more time around the coaches.

“Definitely spending more time, getting to know everyone better,” Mincey said of his visit to Florida. “If you come here for a regular visit, you will talk but you get more personal during the official visit getting to meet their family and their people.”

Mincey was able to spend a lot of time with the staff and players and he was able to get a more in-depth look at the school.

“We just went out to eat, I got to ride with Coach [Billy] Napier and Coach [Austin] Armstrong in their car and talk,” he said on what he got to do during the visit. “We toured the campus; we had a little cookout. Just enjoying the time.”

The coaching staff spent a lot of time showing Mincey film and going over things with the safety and he liked the in-person conversations.

“It’s pretty good, I prefer talking in person than over the phone,” Mincey said on spending time with the coaches. “It’s just better to me, I like to see you in person and see facial expressions. Through text, you don’t get to emotion and stuff.”

Defensive backs coach Corey Raymond showed Mincey film on how he would use the defensive back if commits to Florida.

“It’s been good, one of the best coaches I’ve been around,” he said on his time with Corey Raymond. “We were just sitting there talking about the plan of development. He was just showing me film of NFL defensive backs compared to what he’s doing right now. Drills, just like showing the stuff he does now shows up in the league.”

Now that Mincey has taken his official visit to Gainesville, he says the Gators are one of a few standing out to him.

“They’re definitely up there,” he said on where Florida stands with him. “They’re one of the top ones. Florida, Alabama, Miami, Florida, and Texas A&M are up there.”

Florida State, Texas, and Miami will get Mincey on campus next and then a decision could come at any time for the Daytona Beach prospect.

“Right now, it’s kind of iffy but I’m getting closer to a decision,” Mincey said. “Either before the season or I might just do during or right after. Whenever I feel is the right time.”
