Florida Gators recruiting: A look at the top 2024 linebacker targets

Billy Napier and his coaching staff have been in the process of offering prospects in the Class of 2024 and beyond during the dead period as they look to set their recruiting board for this year ahead of March visits.

The Gators 2024 class is already off to a great start as they have their leader of the class in quarterback DJ Lagway as well as commits from running back Chauncey Bowens and linebackers Adarius Hayes and Myles Graham.

GatorCountry is going to bring you series that will look at the top prospects at each position in the 2024 class ahead of spring visits in March.

We started with the offensive side of the ball and now we will move to the defensive side of the ball and start with the linebacker position. The Gators already have a commitment from linebacker Myles Graham and outside linebacker Adarius Hayes.

Linebackers:

Linebacker Cameron Pruitt- The Mobile, Alabama native picked up an offer from Florida on Monday after talking with new defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong who had already offered him while at Southern Miss and Alabama. Pruitt is a hybrid linebacker that can play linebacker and safety at times. Pruitt has a lot of interest in the Gators and plans to visit Gainesville this spring. Alabama is also a team to watch.

Linebacker Kylan Fox- Fox is a guy that can play tight end or linebacker at the next level but most colleges project him to play on the defensive side of the ball. Fox has visited Gainesville multiple times already and says he plans to get back down this spring for another visit. Fox has a long list of colleges interested in him with Alabama and Georgia holding the edge early on.

Linebacker Qua Birdsong- The Georgia native doesn’t have an offer from Florida yet, but one could come at any time as Birdsong has visited Gainesville multiple times already. Birdsong has several SEC offers and a Notre Dame offer already.

Linebacker Kris Jones- The Virginia native plans to be in Gainesville this spring for a multi-day visit so he can be around the staff and watch spring practice. Jones has visited Gainesville in the past but this spring he will have the chance to meet Armstrong for the first time. Notre Dame is a serious contender for Jones early on.

Linebacker Timajay Hayes- The South Florida prospect has visited Gainesville a few times last fall and wants to get back up to campus again this spring. Hayes is keeping his options open right now but he has a long list of suitors after him including Miami and Georgia.
