The Florida Gators won in blowout fashion on Saturday against South Carolina and several top prospects were in the Swamp to watch the game.
Defensive back commit Ja’Keem Jackson (6-1, 180, Kissimmee, FL. Osceola) was in town and enjoyed being back at his future home.
“It was good, coming back to my home, it has been a good experience,” Jackson said of his visit to Florida on Saturday. “It was a good atmosphere.”
Jackson watched the Gators’ defense closely on Saturday and he likes how they’re improving under defensive coordinator Patrick Toney.
“It was a good performance,” he said on the Gators’ defense. “They said the defense had a shutout for the last six quarters. Coach Toney said they’re getting better each week.”
Toney and defensive backs coach Corey Raymond spoke with Jackson during the visit and explained to him they’re ready for him to get to Gainesville.
“I’ve got a couple of months and they just say they’re ready for me to come,” Jackson said on the message from the coaching staff. “January, I’m here. I’m locked in.”
While on campus, Jackson was recruiting others to join him including another defensive back that the Gators want.
“We’ve got pretty good dudes, I know we’re trying to get the last one, Dez [Desmond Ricks],” he said on the Gators’ defensive back class. “If we get him, we will have a really good class. I talked to him.”
Jackson also liked the big news that the Gators’ received this week when they flipped quarterback Jaden Rashada from Miami.
“I was surprised, I was like oh man,” Jackson said of the Gators’ landing Jaden Rashada. “I feel like that’s a good flip we got from them; it should be good.”
The Gators’ commit has taken some visits this fall but he says he talked to the Gators’ staff about those plans and they understand that he’s solid to Florida.
“Coach Raymond understands that I really wasn’t recruited and didn’t go to many places so he just wants me to enjoy the process,” he said on the message from the staff about him taking other visits. “I’m locked in, I like how the coaching staff checks on me.”
Next up for Jackson will be an official visit to Gainesville and he will be joined by his high school teammate and UCF defensive line commit John Walker that weekend.
“December 9th,” Jackson said on when he plans to take his official visit. “I’m not visiting anywhere else.”
Ricks not Watson. Watson would be an elite DB though, lol.
I had to re-read that too. SMH
