Over the last few weeks in January, Billy Napier and the Florida Gators’ coaching staff hosted several 2023 prospects on campus for unofficial visits.
2023 offensive lineman Tommy Kinsler (6-6, 330, Ocala, FL. Trinity Catholic) was on campus and spent time with several coaches.
“I had a good time,” Kinsler said of his visit to Florida in January. “I have visited Florida multiple times but what really stood out during the visit was Coach Napier and Coach [Darnell] Stapleton, also the rest of the staff.”
Offensive line coaches Darnell Stapleton and Rob Sale spent a lot of time with Kinsler during the visit as they try and build a solid relationship.
“I got to talk with Coach Stapleton and Coach Sale,” he said on the coaches he spent the most time with. “It was great, I had a really good talk and they both showed me a lot of love. They both seem like really good coaches. I’m looking forward to building a good relationship with them.
Sale and Stapleton explained to Kinsler during the visit just how bad he’s wanted and where he would play at on the line.
“They expressed how much they wanted me to be a Gator and they aren’t going to stop until I’m a Gator,” Kinsler said on the message from the coaches. “They said they can have me playing guard and tackle for them.”
This was also the first time for Kinsler to meet Napier and it was a good first impression for the lineman.
“It was a great experience,” he said on meeting Napier. “He said there’s no way he’s letting me get away and he’s going to send all the stuff at me and he’s not going to stop until I’m a Gator.”
The Gators have been the team to beat for a while now for Kinsler and he says that’s still the case despite the coaching change.
“Yes sir,” Kinsler said when he asked if Florida was still his leader. “They have really good coaches and it’s a good school.”
INSIDERS TAKE: Kinsler said he will make a decision either in the middle of the season or the end of the season.
