This weekend the Florida Gators brought in a couple of players who were new on the recruiting board as the staff has been able to watch their senior year films.
Defensive end/outside linebacker Jack Pyburn (6-3, 265, Jacksonville, FL. Bolles) was on campus for the first and spent a lot of time getting to know everyone.
“It was great, it was awesome, I really enjoyed my time,” Pyburn said of his visit to Florida. “We got to tour pretty much everything including the new facilities and I got to spend a lot of time with the coaches. I ate a lot of good food and hung with some of the players. It was great.”
The highlight for Pyburn was getting to spend time under the lights in the Swamp as a prospect.
“Just being able to spend some quality time with the coaches,” he said on the highlight of his visit. “Then just walking into the Swamp was a highlight.”
On Sunday before Pyburn left Gainesville, he picked up an offer after he talked to head coach Billy Napier.
“It’s pretty surreal,” Pyburn said on what the offer means to him. “It’s the moment you think about as a little kid. Coach Napier told me that he wanted to offer because not only am I great player but a great young man. He said I’m the type of person that I am is exactly what he needs to reshape a team and develop a culture for the program.”
Defensive line coach Sean Spencer and Napier explained to Pyburn just where he would play at on defense if he comes to Florida.
“They see me as an edge, there Jack,” he said on where Florida wants him to play. “He loves my motor and loves who I am. He sees me as a player that can make an impact and a throwback football player.”
Pyburn was impressed by the energy of Spencer who has gained the nickname of Coach Chaos.
“He’s awesome, high energy,” Pyburn said on his impressions of Spencer. “He’s definitely Coach Chaos.”
Napier also impressed Pyburn and his family during the visit with how much he changed things in such a short amount of time on campus.
“He’s a very smart man,” he said on his impressions of Napier. “He always has a plan about the future. He’s already shown that by what he has done already, just the little things he has done and the hiring of the staff. It’s unreal.”
Now that Pyburn has taken his visits, the Jacksonville native says he will decide between three schools.
“Auburn, Florida, and Miami are my final three,” Pyburn said. “I’ll be announcing my decision on Tuesday.”
