Billy Napier has hired Jamar Chaney as an analyst, UF announced on Sunday. He will work with the linebackers.
Chaney, a Fort Pierce, Florida, native, previously worked for the Gators in 2019 as the assistant director of player personnel and has spent the last two years at Mississippi State as a senior defensive analyst.
He played linebacker for Mississippi State from 2005-09. In 49 games, he recorded 286 tackles, including 11 for losses and six sacks. He earned All-SEC recognition in 2007 after leading the Bulldogs with 89 tackles.
Chaney, 35, was taken in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL Draft and played for five years in the league.
He began his coaching career by leading St. Lucie West Centennial High School, his alma mater, for three years. He left that job to take the position on Dan Mullen’s staff in 2019.
And now, less than two years later, he’ll be back in Orange and Blue.
