The Florida Gators picked up their second commitment of the week on Tuesday when the coaching added a big instate target.
Offensive lineman David Conner (6-6, 270, Deerfield Beach, FL. High) committed to Florida over Arizona and Maryland just days after he picked up an offer from the Gators.
“For the next three to four years I will be attending the University of Florida,” Conner said.
Conner worked out twice for the Gators coaching staff this past summer and last week received the offer after talking to the head man himself.
“Coach [Dan] Mullen did,” Conner said on the coach from Florida who offered him on Saturday. “He just said he loves my athleticism, the aggression I have, the way I play and the improvement I’ve made from my previous years. They’re excited about me.”
Offensive line coach John Hevesy explained to Conner during the workout where the Gators like him at position wise and what Florida likes about his game.
“The workout went really good with him, he said I was real athletic,” Conner said on the feedback he received from Hevesy during his workout with Florida. “He says I can move real well, I’m big and he says it’s always good to have someone that big who can move. He loves me at left tackle.”
The coaching staff in Gainesville is a big reason why the Gators quickly jumped to the top of his recruitment and now landed his commitment.
“It’s a family feel, when I got there, they were very welcoming,” he said on his impressions of the coaching staff. “They greeted me, all of the coaches did and it’s just a family feeling. I loved it. I really like Coach Hevesy, when I went there for the workout, he wasn’t just working me out, but he was helping me and showing me things.”
Conner is the 13th commit of the 2022 class and joins offensive lineman Tony Livingston as members of the class on the offensive line.
