Zollicoffer developing a good relationship with the Florida Gators

Every year recruiting offensive linemen is a huge focal point for college football teams but it’s even more important for the Florida Gators in the 2022 class and they have several guys looking hard at the Gators.

2022 offensive lineman Elijah Zollicoffer (6-6, 320, Covington, GA. Newton) is one of those guys and he says the Gators are showing him a lot of interest.

“Florida is recruiting me very hard,” Zollicoffer said of Florida. “I still have a relationship with Coach [John] Hevesy and we talk like four times a month.”

Offensive line coach John Hevesy has explained to Zollicoffer why the Gators like his game and how high on the board he is for Florida.

“He always lets me know that I’m always going to be one of his top guys,” he said on the message from Hevesy. “He doesn’t have me at a certain position since he says I can play everything on the offensive line because I’m physical and aggressive.”

Zollicoffer likes Dan Mullen’s offense and he watched the Gators a lot last year and that has increased his interest in the Gators.

“I like how he passes most of the time but he has proved he can run the ball if he needs to,” Zollicoffer said on what he likes about Dan Mullen’s offense. “I look up to a lot of the offensive linemen that he has put in the league.”

The offensive lineman visited Gainesville last year and he liked the campus but Zollicoffer also likes the location.

“I’ve always wanted to play for a Florida school when I was younger,” he said on his interest in Florida. “I like how hot it is and their location is the best location of all the Florida schools in my opinion.”

The Gators have a few other schools to compete against for Zollicoffer’s signature and he hopes to make a decision in the next few months.

“Mississippi State, Georgia, Florida, Florida State, Miami, and Tennessee,” Zollicoffer said of other schools recruiting him hard. “I want to make a commitment before the next year starts.
