The Florida Gators have struggled to recruit running backs the last few years but the coaching staff has offered several backs in the 2022 class the last few weeks.
2022 running back Dallas Hayden (5-11, 195, Memphis, TN. Christian Brothers) was one of those who received the news from the Gators last week.
“Coach [Greg] Knox offered me,” Hayden said of the coach who offered him last week. “He offered and said he loved my film and loved my vision and versatility at my position.”
Hayden admits hearing the news from Florida was excited to him for several different reasons.
“It means a lot to me,” he said on what the offer means to him. “I was excited because Florida is a big-time football school.”
Running backs coach Greg Knox explained to Hayden just how the Gators would use him in the offense if he were to pick Florida for college.
“He said he will use me not only in the run game but also in the passing game too,” Hayden said on how Knox will use him in the Gators offense. “He said he likes my versatility and that can he put me in the slot sometimes too because of that.”
Hayden has yet to visit the Gators but he does know a good bit about Dan Mullen’s offense and how they use their running backs.
“I like the offense, Coach [Dan] Mullen is a guru,” he said. “I like the way the running backs are used and how they get them involved in the passing game.”
Ohio State and Notre Dame are also recruiting Hayden hard but he says he has a lot of interest in the Gators for a few different reasons.
“I have interest in Florida for sure,” Hayden said of his interest in Florida. “They’re always in the running for an SEC championship every year and their football history speaks for itself and Coach Mullen’s offense.”
