Florida Gators recruiting mailbag: December 10th edition

The Florida Gators remain number six in the country playoff poll that came out on Tuesday and the Gators are seeing some positive reactions to that on the recruiting front.

This weekend the Gators will have prospect’s attention as they take on LSU at home in the Swamp.

GatorCountry brings you a recruiting mailbag to answer your questions on the 2021 class as well as the 2022 class.

Check out the mailbag here to get all the answers to your questions.

JRussellFLA85: Where do you see this class ending up this year? The last I checked we were at #7. Do you think Top 5 is likely?

AS: Right outside of the top five is my guess as of right now but the Gators have a few guys that could push them to five if things fall their way.

MrB-Gator: Do we get Sorey and Sapp?

AS: Right now I lean towards Tyreak Sapp staying in the class but it will be close if Alabama wants him. Heading into this weekend I have Xavian Sorey headed to Georgia but there’s a chance he makes it to Gainesville this weekend.

Gatorboy08: Any updates on Arnold? Think he can sway Sorey to the good guys any?

AS: Florida still sits in good shape with Terrion Arnold but he doesn’t sign until February so still a long ways to go. Sorey will commit and sign in December so Arnold won’t have much impact there.

Gatorboy08: Can you see us landing one of Tunmise, Leigh, or Lewis?

AS: Right now I would say no on all three but if Florida misses on Xavian Sorey then Terrence Lewis becomes a real possibility. This weekend’s visit is key for the Gators with Tunmise Adeleye and Tristian Leigh but heading into the visit I have them out of the class.

Travlingator: There have been several decommits in recent weeks. Are we making a hard press on any of these players and if so which ones.

AS: Terrence Lewis is the only guy that Florida has interest in right now after he left the Tennessee class. The numbers are tight so the Gators have their targets in mind.

Juggernautz: Do we have to worry about any of our 2021 recruits not making it in?

AS: The three guys not signing early are all guys to watch and they’re Javonte Gardner, Deyavie Hammond, and Trevonte Rucker. It will be something to monitor down the stretch.

Juggernautz: If we win the SECCG, would more recruits possibly be interested in us?

AS: Florida is in a number’s crunch so they don’t have much room and especially since they will have signed 23 guys before they even play in the championship game. I don’t see there being much movement if they win the championship game with the 2021 class. Now the 2022 class is different and you can see new movement there.

Gatorteachuf: Of the three, Langston, Tunmise, and Sapp, who are the two we most want? I would like all three but I doubt that is reasonable plus Boone.

AS: Tunmise Adeleye and Bryce Langston are both wanted badly in this class and honestly the staff really likes Tyreak Sapp and would love for him to stick with the Gators. I know that’s cheating with your question but I believe that all three are all equally wanted bad and they could use all three.

Shade45: When and how can this staff’s recruiting rise to the next level esp in Florida?

AS: I don’t know that there’s one thing in particular, the staff just has to continue to recruit these hard and build the relationship. Winning helps for sure and they’re doing that but other staffs are just out recruiting Florida right now.

Pan: The Offensive line class has a lot of if’s about it. Is the staff in a position to reshuffle the offensive line board and put a good class together?

AS: It’s a little late in the process to do that and honestly outside of the commits, I don’t know who Florida could even get that. They really don’t have any true targets out there. The biggest question is will Deyavie Hammond and Javonte Gardner make it in as neither plan to sign early.

Atllagator: Can you remind us what the differences are this weekend for the guys that will be coming to campus and what they might be able to expect in terms of the “visit?”

AS: Basically the guys can’t meet with the coaching staff but they can do everything else but it has to be on their own. Guys can hang out with current players if they want but they have to be the one to organize that. They also can’t be given tickets to the game by the coaching staff.
