Florida Gators recruiting mailbag: November 5th edition

The Florida Gators returned to the field last Saturday with a big win over Missouri and that had many prospects excited about the Gators defense.

This weekend the Gators will have prospect’s attention as they take on Georgia in a big game for both schools on and off the field.

GatorCountry brings you a recruiting mailbag to answer your questions on the 2021 class as well as the 2022 class.

Check out the mailbag here to get all the answers to your questions.

OklahomaGator: Do you see Mullen holding spots open for potential portal transfers?

AS: Yes, Mullen has made it a yearly thing where he will hold a spot or two for transfers and I think that will be even more true now that guys are expected to be able to transfer for one time without sitting out.

G8trJasonB: Travis Shaw, Walter Nolen, Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy, Tyre West and Mykel Williams are all overall top 50 players at the DT position and all are currently uncommitted. 4 of them are located in SEC states with Dindy being from Lakeland HS and the 5th, Nolen, is located in NC. Do we have a reasonable shot at any of them?

AS: Right now, Florida has a long way to go with all of those guys. Dindy is from Lakeland but he’s originally from Oklahoma and his parents went there so that’s why they’re the big favorites. The good news is that the Gators will have a shot at getting all of these guys on campus next spring to swing them their way.

Macbgator: How is our recruiting in 2022 for the defensive and offensive line looking??

AS: Florida still has work to do to get guys leaning its way simply because they haven’t been able to host a lot of guys on visits but on the offensive line, the Gators are in a good spot with Julian Armella who loved his visit and Tyler Booker who plays both offensive and defensive line, the Gators are in good shape early on. Kenyatta Jackson, Shemar Stewart and Francois Nolton are all guys on the defensive line that the Gators are in the running for.

Gatorboy08: I was curious what the LB board looks like for 2022 class? Still looking good for Lathan?

AS: Florida is still in good shape for Trey Lathan but he doesn’t have a decision date in mind. Wesley Bissainthe is another linebacker that the Gators are in good shape for early on.

Gatorboy08: Also, I assume we only take 1 RB next year with the addition of Bowman this year. So who are the likely favorites, at this time, to be the guy for 2022?

AS: I think one is the number for next year and Terrance Gibbs, Jamie Felix and Damari Alston are all guys that heavy interest in the Gators early on.

G8rKrackin23: Are there any kids in next year’s class that have the Toney factor juke juke and more juke if so are we in on them

AS: I don’t think you have a true speedy athlete that does what Toney does in the class next year but it’s tough to find those guys in every class.

Polkgator: What do you feel about Borders and Stanford?

AS: Borders has flirted with Stanford for awhile now and why I think Borders truly loves Florida and wants to be a Gator, I also know that it will be tough to turn down Stanford. Still a long way to go here.

Shade45: Who are the DTs this class?
How many?

AS: Desmond Watson and Christopher Thomas are the two true defensive tackles in this class. Tunmise Adeleye will play inside some if he chooses to attend Florida but right now I like the Gators chances.
