Green breaks down his interest in the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators have some momentum in recruiting right now and despite not getting to have any visits this fall, they’ve gained ground on some 2022 prospects.

2022 tight end Donovan Green (6-4, 220, Dickinson, TX. High) is one of those guys and he says the Gators are recruiting him hard.

“I talk to them often, I mostly talk to Coach [Tim] Brewster,” Green said. “They haven’t let up and Coach Brewster said he’s not going to stop recruiting me until the end.”

Tight ends coach Tim Brewster has explained to Green how the Gators would use him on offense and why he’s needed in Gainesville.

“He talks about using me just like he does [Kyle] Pitts, I would be all over the field,” he said on Brewster’s message to him. “He said he’s the best tight end coach and he wants to coach the best tight end.”

Green has done his homework on Brewster as a coach and he likes what he knows about the veteran assistant coach’s history at the position.

“He has a record of coaching successful tight ends,” Green said on thoughts on Brewster as a coach. “It’s cool talking to Coach Brewster, he’s always pumped when he talks to me or my dad and he always says I got to get you down here.”

The 2022 prospect is excited to be talked about in the same sentence as Kyle Pitts and that has him intrigued by the Gators offense.

“They put up some good numbers and he [Pitts] is a big part of the offense,” he said on his thoughts on Florida’s offense. “It’s definitely interesting for coach to say they want me to use me the same way.”

Green released his top six last week and the tight end says the next step is to make a final decision.

“My top six are Florida, Texas, Ole Miss, USC, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M,” Green said. “I should commit sometime in the summer.”
