Last week, the Florida Gators coaching staff handed out several new offers to 2021 prospects as the staff was out on the road recruiting.
2021 tight end Lawson Albright (6-5, 225, Greensboro, NC. Grimsley) was one of those guys who picked up an offer from Florida.
“It was actually Friday but I just posted it on Saturday, I met Coach [Larry] Scott at my school on Friday briefly,” Albright said of the coach who offered him. “He stopped by my school and he told my football coach that they were going to offer me.”
Albright has 11 offers already but he says picking up an offer from the Gators meant a lot to him.
“It was crazy to me because it was my biggest offer so far,” he said on his reaction to the offer. “It means a lot to me.”
The 2021 tight end also knows a little bit about Florida and Gators tight end coach Larry Scott.
“Florida is a really good SEC school that has been getting better and better,” Albright said on what he knows about Florida. “Coach Scott is a good coach with a lot of experience at the position.”
Albright also knows how the Gators use the tight end position and he likes how he could be used in Florida’s offense.
“I know they had a really young tight end that played a lot for them last year and they used him like a receiver,” he said on how Florida uses the tight end position. “I love to catch the ball a lot and make an impact in the passing game so I think it fits me well.”
Next up for Albright is a potential visit to Florida where he wants to see everything the Gators have to offer.
“Hopefully I’ll be able to visit them sometime in the future,” Albright said of visiting Florida. “If I went down there I’d want to see how they treat their players and what kind of facilities they have.”
