Diabate says the Florida Gators improved their chances on Friday

On Friday night, The Florida Gators hosted prospects from several different states on campus for Friday Night Lights.

The state of Alabama had several prospects on campus in Gainesville including linebacker Mohamoud Diabate (6-3, 211, Auburn, AL. High) who enjoyed his time on campus.

“The visit was great, good overall visit,” Diabate said of his visit to Florida on Friday. “I got to see a lot of things that I needed to see, got to talk to the coaches a little bit. Overall it was a good time.”

Diabate visited the Gators this spring and while he didn’t see a lot of new things on the second visit, it was still an eye opener to the linebacker.

“It was just reassuring of the first visit,” he said on what he got to see this time that he didn’t last time he was in town. “Because I saw the same facilities and talked to the same coaches this time. Overall it just reassured me of what I thought and believed before about Florida being a great university.”

While on campus, two Gators coaches spoke at length with Diabate about how Florida would use him on defense if he picks them for college.

“Coach Sal [Sunseri] and Coach [Todd] Grantham are the two guys I talked to mainly,” Diabate said of the coaches he spoke to on Friday. “They just basically said that I could fit into their scheme and play early in my career and have an impact on their defense at the rush defensive end spot.”

Diabate has built a good relationship with those coaches and the linebacker believes that they could him out on and off the field.

“I love their message and I have a lot of respect for them,” he said on his relationship and thoughts of the Gators staff. “They’re nice people, I think they can develop me into a great player in the future. They have a lot of passion.”

The coaching staff wasn’t the only ones recruiting Diabate during the visit, two current Gators commits also were in his ear about Florida.

“Jalon Jones and Trent [Whittemore] were talking to me,” Diabate said of current commits talking to him. “They were just saying that we would love to have me down there.”

After getting to see things for a second time, Diabate walked away from his visit to Florida on Friday having high praise for the Gators.

“It definitely helped them out,” he said of this visit to Florida. “I feel like they’re looking out for my future and I really liked the visit and it helped them out. I really like everything about them.”

The Gators however aren’t the only SEC school after the linebacker as four more teams are recruiting him hard.

“Florida, Ole Miss, Alabama, Auburn and LSU,” Diabate said of schools recruiting him the hardest.

INSIDERS TAKE: Diabate says that he plans to early enroll and use his official visits this fall but he hasn’t decided which schools will get those visits. Diabate does believe that Florida will get one of those visits this fall.
