Interesting that classical preference correlates w high income. I know it's a genre preferred by "educated" people, but it seems that art music is mostly taken in by artists (i.e. poor people).

Why call it bogus? The participants in the survey - 1,500 millennials - were asked what music genre they preferred to listen. The responses they gave were ranked accordingly.

The popularity of Jazz is down over all. Big Band? 50's and 60's? Seriously? The survey questions were asked of 1.500 people, some of whom may not even know what sort of music that is. Glen Miller and Benny Goodman have been dead a long time. And they may equate Classic Rock with Hard Rock or music from the 80's and 90's. Their responses will predictably reflect the music popular in their formative years. Baby Boomers they are not.

Way to broad of a scope to get any real information. I'm calling shenanigans.

Just another unsurprising showing of the knowledge ( or lack thereof) of the majority of our " millenials ":p:)

I am confused. What are all these different types of music? I thought there were the two types of music:

I teach a graduate psychology of music class. For conversation (and giggles), we complete a simple survey of music preference and related personality variables. It's not by any means a scientifically rigorous poll, but is fun to read and agree or disagree with what your musical preference suggests about your personality.

If you wish to try it (only takes a couple minutes):
The Do-Re-Mi's of Personality - What your music tastes say about your personality: take an online personality psychology quiz about music

The results show I was at 87% edgy and aggressive, 33% reflective, and a little of others. Interesting test, I was surprised :)

The best music doesn't deserve to be at the bottom of the list, which it would be with all the fixed incomes.

Can this test shed light on why I've increasingly become an audiophobe as I've gotten older?
