We should and given our yearly early unpreparedeness 10 and 2 isn't that unreasonable if we had a little balance between offensive and defensive output.
10-2 would have been impressive given our schedule, but I honestly think if we had a good game day coach or even just a real OC we would beat USF, and split LSU and Miami. I think we would beat Texas (they are not that good). So we would be sitting at 4-1 with some tough games to come, but not impossible to get to 10-2 with Lagway improving, Jadan Baugh leading a solid run game and the phenom that is Dallas Wilson. Hell if we could cut down on some penalties on offense that would have a meaningful impact on results.
DJ should have been pulled. I question why he was not, or perhaps there is an agreement to not bench him. This game against Texas was the first time he looked closer to expectation. Is he getting healthier? Maybe - if he wasn't healthy he shouldn't have been on the field at all the first few games, or had a shorter leash.
I think oftentimes, politics has a lot to do with it. It would take a very strong coach to buck the system and bench a quarterback that desperately needs it. I think Spurrier was the only one at Florida since 1990 that was willing to bench starters to see if others have the hot hand. No one would dare question the Greatest Gator Of Them All...
Guilty as charged on the knee-jerk reaction. Truth be told, prior to the rule clarification regarding Napier's thinking on the TO at the end of the game, I was as confused and dismayed as the guys in the broadcast booth. But the play calling when we took over the ball with 3:48 left in the 1st half was the same old "play not to lose" BS that we've all gagged on a hundred times. But there I go again, so I'll shut up now.
We’re all passionate about the Gators. Overall, that’s a great thing. We’re definitely overdue for some consistency of success. The inexplicable start hasn’t helped anyone’s patience.
