Or you hire Lane Kiffin (who according to some insiders, wanted the job last season) and you would be likely be 5-0 and probably ranked #1 or #2.

Lane just beat LSU with less talent and a backup QB.

I know Billy beat him last season, but let's be honest, that was all Robert's defense in that game.

Switch coaches and rosters and we all know what it would look like.

Not so fun fact, that high school team has as many wins vs FBS as we do.

Yeah. I saw the team picture they took at the beginning of the season. There are more coaches on there than players. They wouldn’t know where to sit them or won’t show up in the picture if they hired more coaches.

    In a perfect world, yes.
The thing is, if you’re done with Napier, and most are, then you’re likely to pick apart EVERYTHING that isn’t absolutely perfect. And I get. Not mad at it. He’s made his own bed in that regard. I’m just more inclined, personally, to still give credit for what Napier gets right. And I think he got a lot of things right against TX.
You mentioned not “taking his foot of the gas” earlier in the game. Yet, many here gripe about the late pick when DJ’s arm got hit on the release. Their point being Napier should have kept running at that time. It’s a no-win situation when people are just over it and dissecting every decision on a micro level, while expecting nothing short of perfection.
It is what it is. To each his own.

Even beat the NC champ on the road. Won at the inaugural Zook field where SOS couldn't.

What's he going to do when the SEC move to 9 games?
I don't believe he can consistently be at or over .500 against SEC teams.

Every time a coach has been on the hot seat, I cannot help but think this is truly what everyone wants, now and forever.

The play that I haven't heard a lot about that frustrated me were the plays before the FG that put us up 22-7 (3rd quarter about 6 minutes to go). If I recall, BN called a very conservative run on 3rd and 7 or so, almost with the idea that he was satisfied with the FG to go up 15.

The frustrating thing was that DJ was really on point that drive and we were moving the ball with ease. I really wish he had gone for a first down there on third down. We got a FG to go up 22-7 when a TD would have really put it farther out of reach.

You are right in that we are picking apart every decision and pointing out every failure and that is not fair to him but I think that happens when you have the record he has. I dont think people expect perfection, but after 3 years of more losses than wins, I think in year 4 we expect better than 2-3.

100% few on here would tolerate 24-17 games even if we had a dominant team like the 2009-2012 teams Saban unleashed that were machine like. Bc there would be bitching about close games letting teams hang around etc despite throttling people.

In spite of the game evolving into an offense dominated game UF has always been perceived as a finesse team going back to the graves’ teams that were entertaining. 3 of the last 4 coaches strove to control tempo instead of embrace it. Bottom line is losing by 1-10 pts doesnt sit well if it is 21-14 or 45-35. The usual gripes will surface not scoring before halftime, not returning KOs, using TOs before end of half or game, not playing X, play call selection etc.

In hind sight, re Monday morning QBing the performance isnt as bad as real time micro criticizing and developing an intense anger about the situation. It’s only entertainment that currently might not be all that entertaining.

Can't give him credit, when this team clearly has talent. There is no reason that we lost to USF and LSU.
Texas is one of the most overrated football teams in modern history, sorry along with Penn State.

I can agree with USF, but why LSU? They also had touchdowns called back, penalties, etc. When a QB throws five INTs, that's on him, not the coach. Also, they were on our 1-yard line with a minute to go, and Kelly elected to drop to the knee rather than ru8nning the score up.

I agree that this is not a perfect world.
Also, I agree that Napier is not a perfect coach. Nor is he a good coach.
Napier botched it when he had his turtle offense pull into a shell.
He should of stuck with the pounding running game thus setting up passing game. Texas did not have the horses to cover both.
You said "no-win situation" This what Napier put his team into late in the 4th quarter.
Some of us do expect perfection.
However, most of us expect him to play to win in all 4 quarters.
We did not expect be playing not to lose in the 4th quarter.

I agree. Like I said, Napier made his bed in that regard. I most certainly do understand the criticism. Heck, I picked us to go 10-2 this year. Overall, though, I think sometimes we’re too effusive in the criticisms.

It also happens way too frequently when UF keep hiring bad coaches.

Two things are true. We have the talent to beat any team in America. We have a coach who blows it frequently. Anyone who is contented with that must turn in their Gator card.

I really thought if DJ took the next step, given the overall talent on the roster, we had a reasonable chance to go 9-3/10-2.
The first 4 weeks were sobering for me, to say the least.
