35 large methane generators to power Grok because there isn't enough power available in the local grid.

throwing off so much nitros oxide it is sending peopel to the hospital

no worries, no permit required for power plants for AI..smdh

35 large methane powered generators, no clean air permit required with plans for more

'How come I can’t breathe?': Musk's data company draws a backlash in Memphis - POLITICO

MEMPHIS, Tennessee — Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company is belching smog-forming pollution into an area of South Memphis that already leads the state in emergency department visits for asthma. None of the 35 methane gas turbines that help power xAI’s massive supercomputer is equipped with pollution controls typically required by federal rules. The company has no Clean Air Act permits.

In just 11 months since the company arrived in Memphis, xAI has become one of Shelby County’s largest emitters of smog-producing nitrogen oxides, according to calculations by environmental groups whose data has been reviewed by POLITICO’s E&E News. The plant is in an area whose air is already considered unhealthy due to smog.

The turbines spew nitrogen oxides, also known as NOx, at an estimated rate of 1,200 to 2,000 tons a year — far more than the gas-fired power plant across the street or the oil refinery down the road. That’s according to calculations by the Southern Environmental Law Center, a nonpartisan legal advocacy group that focuses on the South, which used turbine manufacturer spec sheets to estimate xAI’s annual emissions and compare them with pollution that other South Memphis plants have reported to the Environmental Protection Agency’s National Emissions Inventory.
    .....................................

In January, facing pressure from neighbors and environmental groups, xAI applied for permits for 15 of its turbines, which it says will be permanent. But Lynn said the company will wait until its application is approved before it installs pollution controls on the turbines it keeps onsite. That installation “will make xAI the lowest-emitting facility in the country,” the company’s local representative, Brent Mayo, said at a permit hearing about the turbines.

Musk’s xAI explores another massive methane gas turbine installation at second South Memphis data center - Southern Environmental Law Center

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — XAI, a company founded by Elon Musk, is evaluating a plan to install between 40 and 90 polluting methane gas turbines at its second South Memphis data center, according to documents obtained by the Southern Environmental Law Center. The discovery comes as Memphians continue to push back against the company’s use of unpermitted turbines at its first data center, also located in South Memphis.

Methane gas turbines release smog-forming pollution and hazardous chemicals like formaldehyde. These pollutants are tied to increases in asthma, respiratory diseases, heart problems, and certain cancers and are especially harmful to children. XAI’s second data center is planned for South Memphis’ Whitehaven neighborhood and is roughly half a mile from homes and a school.

“XAI appears to be preparing for a truly staggering number of polluting turbines for its second South Memphis data center, all while continuing to run unpermitted turbines nearby,” Amanda Garcia, a senior attorney at the Southern Environmental Law Center, said. “Memphians have repeatedly told local leaders they have serious concerns about how these data centers and their use of gas turbines will impact the air they breathe every day. Local leaders and health officials should be standing with the communities they serve—not a power-hungry company with a history of breaking the rules.”

If it wasn't before, isn't it now apparent that DOGE was cover for dismantling regulations that protected Americans from the wealthy?

Musk paid to dismantle things that interfered with Musk. Follow the money and it's incredibly obvious.

Red States are being targeted because they already lack in regulation, before the deregulation even started…. I read about an obnoxious noisy crypto mining warehouse built in a residential area of North Carolina and running 24/7… this is what they vote for…

Trump won NC by a 3% margin. NC's Congressional delegation is 75% Republican (12 Republican seats in the House compared with 4 Democrat). Perhaps the best indicator of gerrymandering in a state is disproportional legislative representation by one party compared with statewide votes. Republicans also have disproportionate representation in the state legislature even though the Governor, Lt. governor and Attorney General are all Democrats.
