We're just in uncharted waters now. Trump broke the Constitution. Constitution never envisioned an insane president blindly followed by his party in congress.

If you want to talk about the House vote, there were 10 GOP representatives who voted in favor of impeachment there.

You’re too much, man. Not an ounce of balance and nonpartisanship. I’ve always been willing to meet you halfway, but you’re entrenched on the right so firmly as to have no perspective. In my mind, that’s EXHIBIT “A” for what’s wrong with America.
    Goodbye.

Milley vs. Trump and you think general Milley is the deranged one?

So are all 15 people present for the call unhinged or are they included in "higher echelons of our Federal Government"? Are Defense Secretary Mark Esper and then-Acting Defense Secretary Chris Miller included in the unhinged category? Do we have a scorecard for how to label people that actually care about the country. Not sure if they are Never Trumpers or Deep State on the scorecard.

There is a very clear reason why a sitting republican president couldn't lockdown the the military officer votes in a presidential election and it isn't some deep state issue, it is a trump issue.

    Trump was impeached 2x.

Once, because he attempted to extort the Ukraine’s President using the capacity of his office, for his own personal political gain. He effectively wanted to trade arms and aid for political interference in the U.S. election. This is corruption. There is no argument this was anything but corruption.

He was impeached again, because the sore loser set off an attack against the Capitol on the very day congress was certifying the election results. He quite literally launched an all out attack on the very concept of our democracy (and quite a bit of this actually wasn’t even included in the impeachment, such as his incessant calls to state election officials to have them corruptly overturn the results).

That the Republicans didn’t join in both times to impeach AND convict only tells me one thing. This is what happens when a political party becomes a criminal organization.

The first impeachment of Trump featured zero Republicans. Please remember that impeachment is something done in the House of Representatives and that it is literally impossible for Senators to vote in an impeachment. What you seem to be trying to point out is that Romney, a Republican Senator (and well-known moron by both sides of the aisle), voted to convict Trump on one of the articles in the Senate trial.

I am not even going to address the second impeachment because it was not conducted in a manner where standard political rules apply as Trump was already leaving office.

Some of the more full of crap Republicans cited the election as a reason to not impeach. “Let the people decide”. As if a President gets free reign in an election year to commit whatever crimes he or she wants.

Then after the election, some of these same people voted to not certify the election. So much for the people deciding!

Im thinking maybe these Republican criminals are no longer good faith actors in our political system.

When has the party of the President actually voted to impeach in the House? The answer is never. Nixon would have likely been the first. But Nixon resigned before he forced other members of the R party to have to vote against him. Neither Johnson, Clinton, or Trump the first time had any votes to impeach within their own, respective parties. This is why Washington and the Founding Fathers were against forming large, strong, political parties. They believed too many people and politicians might favor putting party over country. Too bad we didn't listen.

And while you are entitled to your own opinion, you are not entitled to your own facts. And the facts are, Trump illegally withheld Congressionally approved funds, and were holding the funds until Trump himself got dirt on a political rival. Trying to hide behind the fact no R's in the House voted to impeach doesn't change what Trump did. Nor should it give Trump, or any President in the future cover to do the same.

All Presidents are perfect, and as humans, will make mistakes. We should not impeach for every single one. But I like to think when the President illegally withholding foreign aid in blackmail scheme to get dirt on a political rival, that's an impeachable offense. Nobody has argued otherwise.

As for Milley, consider the position he was in. Trump was spouting crazy nonsense about stop the steal, despite all evidence Trump lost. Trump participated in the Jan 6 rally, and ginned up the crowd, then pointed them directly at the Capitol building. Where they followed Trump's orders, and delayed the counting to make Biden the next President. Fortunately, no lawmakers or staff were injured. Unfortunately, others weren't so lucky. The thought that if Trump was capable on turning on Congress to keep power, how far would Trump go against foreign countries is a legit question. Milley was doing his job talking to his counterparts in China to ensure Trump turning his rage on China wasn't going to happen, and that there were still adults in the room who would stop any action before it started.

Mormon, you left out the second m.

I was specifically referring to the second impeachment when 10 GOP representatives and 7 GOP senators lived up to their oaths of office and put America ahead of their party.

As self-centered and unethical as Nixon was, he recognized that he needed to take the loss to help the party move forward. Trump couldn't even do that.

Yep, and Trump should have been removed from office each time. The Constitution is meaningless if the entire Republican party refuses to abide by it. There's no remedy for that.

Because impeachment is supposed to be used for actual real problems that are seen by a bipartisan group of people. I'm not interested in reading your wall of text about Orange Man Baddest of All because I am not interested in defending nor attacking Orange Man in the first place.

Please explain why a POTUS holding Congressionally approved foreign aid in a blackmail attempt to get dirt on a political rival is not a real problem? If the only real problems you see are bipartisan ones, then by your definition, a President with the full support of his party has carte blanche to do as he/she pleases. Hey, the POTUS stole $1 billion and threw an outrageous party with underage kids present. But since none of his party voted to impeach, it's not a real problem!
