Looking for some tangible evidence that UF pays that much less. We know some schools pay more or have more. And if it is about money we don't have, we need to try to flip players committed to programs with equal or less money available. But that sounds like a bidding war waiting to happen late in the process.

This part will never be known or an absolute either. I imagine there is a dollar amount that isn't worth more than wanting to be at a different school. If I could stay close to home, still have all the benefits playing for a major college program but have to make less then I would but there is a threshold where you have to take the bigger bag. That has to vary from case to case though. I could honestly say id take 50k a year less to play for Florida than to go to south Carolina if I was already pretty well compensated.

You're not gonna find tangible evidence of dollar amounts. You can deny it happened before it was above board but so many have come out and admitted they took money now. This NIL just gave a legal framework to cover whatever other "efforts" are made to lure talent now but its hardly regulated well enough to keep everything level.

I don't really know, but I also don't really care. If I cared enough, I'd get involved. I have no interest in funding the deals personally, so don't really feel like it's any of my business what the offers and deals are. Me knowing how much we're getting outbid by isn't going to change anything as I'm not interested in making up the difference. That doesn't mean I'm ignoring that it's a significant part of the process though. I feel like the responsibility, right or wrong, falls on my shoulders as much as anyone else's at this point. We all have the opportunity to get directly involved. If you're not willing to get involved, then you take what you get. I'm not talking about giving a few bucks to the collective and proclaiming "I did my part", I'm talking about really getting involved. You can do this with a boatload of money or with a lot of hard work. I'm not going to contribute either, so I take what I'm given.

Coaches still have to put in a ton of work, but it doesn't matter how much work they put in if there's no money. Last year's recruiting season should have made this crystal clear to anyone who was still questioning how significant of a role money plays in the process. Early in the cycle, they were talking about raising money for a buyout. Later in the cycle, the NIL coffers opened up. When they did, the recruits started pouring in. The staff had been putting in their work. They built the relationships. When the checkbooks opened up, the effort on the trail was made quite obvious. If the checkbooks stayed closed, the ones who just want to point fingers almost certainly would have been blaming the staff's effort. It's quite obvious what actually happened though.

Not clicking the link, but you know I'm with you on this. Nobody has all the info, and anyone trying to act like they do is not to be trusted. Some people will have most of the info about specific a deal or two, but nobody has all of it, and nobody has anywhere near enough info to accurately show ALL the numbers to the public.

It just makes no sense to me that we would allocate 3 coaches and spend that much time recruiting this kid if we weren’t in the ballpark financially. I’m sure they have these discussions early on. My guess is he was promised playing time as a freshman at auburn which we can’t guarantee with what’s in front of him. Without public disclosure of NIL, we’ll never know for sure.

He’s not guessing we are competitive paying our QB every other position group on the roster is taking at least a 20% pay cut playing at UF several guys are leaving much more on the table.

They’ve got to go after whoever they think is going to be the best and/or best fit. They build the relationships and hope someone brings the money.

18,13,13,7 last four recruiting classes. I do like the trajectory and hope the 2026 class keeps this up and stays in the top 10.

Last year they didn’t have any money to negotiate with…until they did. If they spent the whole season only recruiting kids they could afford, they wouldn’t have had the relationships in place to land all the kids they landed at the end of the cycle when the checkbooks started to open up.

What's the purpose of that long list of players who made almost no impact at UF? Is that supposed to suggest some blemish on Napier that Mullen could pick up low hanging fruit and claim recruiting victories?
