With UNC firing Fedora and staff, who do we want to look at to transfer?

William Sweet and William Barnes are both from Florida and starting on their OL. 2-9 team, so not a lot of talent, but we wanted Barnes last year and he is starting at OG as a true freshman? Any grad transfers we could attract that would help us until Mullen can build up our depth?

Oh Barnes, never choose a school because they’ll take your buddy too.

If I remember correctly, Barnes’ mother graduated from UNC. I would think she would have issues with her son transferring to another school.

I just never understood that William Barnes decision. Florida (or even UCF due to being local and his positive comments) made sense. UNC? Mom must have really had some major influence on that one (yes they are a good school, but he is a football player first). Sure hope he finishes his degree to make up for the eventual salary difference he will see in the NFL from being on a less competitive and nationally visible college team.

NFL will see him at UNC, that's not remotely an issue. You can argue the coaching he may receive, the overall football experience, etc. But he will get drafted based on performance....be it at Alabama or at Rutgers

Went to UNC with his friend Ed Montilus?? Who we also recruited. Some say it was package deal. We also got a late start in relationship building, but he would have been great OG for us

Montilus was his teammate on the OL at Apopka High. We were looking at both of them.

If you choose inferior coaching you never optimize your talent

Scouts will find you but what will they find

Walter Peyton and Jerry Rice didn’t play in the limelight and did ok

But lots of competition out there and it helps to be a known player

With UNC hiring Mack Brown, no need to bother trying to lure away any of their current players (maybe Sweet if he graduates this year and can play for us in 2019). There's a lot of hope and optimism around the UNC program now with Mack-daddy back home.
