Sodom and Gomorrah were engulfed due to extreme inhospitality and the raping of women and attempted raping of "guests" which was pervasive in that particular region, not homosexuality as we see in 2024 between monogamous, faithful couples.

Remember scripture wasn't written TO you but FOR you. Context in culture, era, and in relation to ALL scripture is important. As pointed out on the Bible Project's podcast series, if you are using scripture as a theological dictionary, moral handbook (like a car manual), or a devotional grab bag, you will often misuse or misinterpret what the scripture is meant for. If your take away from the Bible is to marginalize a whole group of people, then I'd question the interpretation.

Conversely, grab bag Bible has given rise to the celebration of homosexuality in today’s Christian community.

That is not what the scripture says:

Now I want to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that Jesus, who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day—just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire. -Jude 5-7
I think you've hit on a point that is good for us to ponder, though. There are other places one could go to in the Bible, and see that Sodom and Gomorrah were guilty of other sins too. Sodom and Gomorrah were not these perfectly righteous people who only broke one commandment. They broke many commandments beyond homosexuality, but they were judged for all of their sins not just the sin of homosexuality. Sins very rarely shows up in singletons. For example, lets consider everyone's favorite subject around here, Donald Trump. People have pointed out his greed. People have pointed out his sexual immorality. People have pointed out his pride. People have pointed out his boasting. People have pointed out his anger and vindictiveness. Which of these threaten hellfire? Is it pride? Is it sexual immorality? Is it boasting? Is it greed? Is it anger and vindictiveness? Or is it all of the above?

Sodom and Gomorrah were described as many of these things. Ungodliness is like a bunch of weeds overrunning what should be a beautiful garden. Homosexuality is one of the weeds that overran what should have been a society of people who honored and worshiped their Creator. It is one the weeds among many overrunning our society that should honor and worship the Creator. To argue over which species of weed is primarily responsible for overrunning the garden to then dismiss all of the other weeds as irrelevant is to miss the big picture. Weeds show up little by little, but homosexuality and child sacrifice are not weeds seen in every culture. They show up in societies that have long been overrun by more common weeds. These are weeds that were significant enough to be specifically named and connected to the judgment of entire societies, but they are not the only reason those societies were judged.

What is your definition of being attracted to the same gender? Being gay is a sin, just like lusting over another woman is sin.

Careful. Minding your own business will become the new homophobia. The term has always been loosely tossed around In an incorrect manor anyway.

Do you have an alternate list of Commandments? Trump has broken 8 of the big Ten, but homosexuality wasn't on there.

Let's go with this for a minute. Most people can link their first attraction to anywhere between to the early years of grade school. Would you tell those kids that they are committing a sin? If so how would you tell them to not commit a sin?

I hate to burst your bubble here, but homosexuality is a single act that breaks at least 6 of the 10 commandments simultaneously in a single act.

It dethrones God in favor of the creature, which breaks the 1st commandment of having no other gods before God.

It also is murder because it grossly disregards the soul and the eternity of the person the act is committed with. It is a double murder because it grossly disregards the soul and the eternity of oneself as well. It provokes eternal wrath, and the second death upon two souls, effectively murdering two souls.

It is theft because it is a form of sexual greed that is acted upon and is clearly outside of the bounds of God’s design.

It is a form of bearing false witness because it bears false witness against the goodness of God’s design in marriage. It involves lying about things God has clearly spoken about.

It is a form of covetousness because it involves harboring in the heart a sinful desire one ought not to have.

It also potentially breaks the 3rd commandment if someone claims to be a Christian or a follower of God while living in this sin. That is taking the name of the Lord in vain.

Of course, all of this applies to Trump and his adultery as well. But why would you want to go to the same place he would go if he is judged for all of his sins?

I'm not sure that there is a better indication that a person is really trying to deal with their own issues and shaping God's words around their own needs rather than shaping their own needs around God's words than watching somebody try to claim that having gay sex is really a double murder.
