Both Lloyd and Singleton have the ability to help the track team at a national level. Singleton has participated in track at the collegiate level, to my knowledge Lloyd hasn’t, but there has been very little crossover from football to track lately. I’m not an insider when it comes to either program, so I don’t know the how’s or why’s behind those decisions. Singelton competed at Georgia Tech while Faulkner was the Offensive Coordinator so perhaps there will be increased interaction/cooperation between football and track. It seems to be mutually beneficial to me, but I’m sure there are factors that the respective coaches have to consider that aren’t obvious to me.
He is, Lloyd has excellent speed but as oneatatime said his track and field prowess was in the horizontal jumps. He (Lloyd) was very, very good in the LJ and TJ in high school… a good comparison would be Arian Smith who played WR at Georgia, but was a highly ranked Long Jumper at Mulberry/Lakeland.
Yeah, he doesn't even have Jeff Demps type speed, who I believe did do track at UF and in the Olympics where he medaled (silver?) on the relay team. I don't think he ran in the finals, just qualifying. He was a sub for someone who was injured.
Demps was an actual football player. Probably not many like him: a real football player who liked to do track also.
