Get some more of these SE kids interested and maybe qualify for the olympics.
No. Unless we add another women’s sport or 2, and the money train has probably just about peaked.
Womens beach volleyball is a cheap, easy no brainer addition where we would immediately be a contender, and we haven't done that. No chance for mens soccer
I think you’re right. No men’s soccer in the SEC. Ever.
Other than current teams at Arkansas and South Carolina. The fact that nearly every Florida school has a team would make it seem a natural add by UF. But alas, as apkgator pointed out due to Title 9 UF would have to add probably two additional women's sports to counterweight the add of men's soccer. And with the financial strain induced by Covid-19 it is doubtful Stricklin is even contemplating adding a single sport any time soon. If we ever get there perhaps also look at adding a wrestling team. UF use to have a pretty good team back in the 70s.
soccer heck I like to get a basketball team
There are a lot of kids playing in Florida and the SE. We would have first pick at those. Maybe even get an IMG kid, finally.
why I think this is a great idea, the big question is "show me the money!"
Lets see how SS handles the new women's soccer coach search.
Yeah, I think it's odd that we haven't added this. I'm all for us adding some cheaper sports to operate to at least open the door for a potentially new men's sport. Throw women's bowling in there too.
Nothing to do with money and everything to do with Title IX.
It costs to run any sport.
7 people responding should answer the question.
Make it 8. Title IX makes this basically the non-discussion that it is.
And those costs vary by massive amounts dependent upon scholarship numbers, facilty needs, etc. For example beach volleyball would be a fraction of soccer cost
