Anthony Richardson is the #Gators first scholarship QB to wear the No. 15 since Tim Tebow and the glory days. "With this number comes great responsibilities and I have to live up to that standard," Richardson told AllGators.

Gators QB Anthony Richardson to Wear No. 15: 'It's an Honor'
Florida Gators quarterback Anthony Richardson will be making the switch from No. 2 to No. 15, a change that will raise some eyebrows across Gator Nation.

    He will now be AR-15?

You can just imagine some of the headlines?

We can only hope that he's a rapid fire QB.

That Mullen gave him Tebow's number says something.

I don't like guns, nor do I think they are necessary but I really don't care about his nickname.

Same. It’s actually a really cool nickname for a QB.

Im sure some of our more racist fans won’t like that he got Tebow’s old number.

No one will care because he can't throw a football. If we are very lucky, Del Rio or Kitna emerge and pass him up on the depth chart. The era of the "running back trying to throw a football"-QB is long dead and buried. He is an 8-4 type QB in an era of offense that throws the ball 40+ times per game.

It will definitely be interesting to see some Gator fans reactions to it.

We were 8-4 last year with a guy who could only throw the football 40+ times a game.

Anyways, if he beats Bama, give him a plaque next to Tebow's. :)

The record setting guy throwing the football was hardly the problem.

Needless to say, our defense has A LOT to prove this year.

Everyone knows there are no racist football fans. Racists are everywhere else in society, but they don't go to football games or even watch on TV.

No problem with it all. He recognizes the responsibility of wearing the 15 in a Gator jersey. If he lives up to the standard he will be embraced!! As much off the field as on.

Not only does he have to live up to Tebow, he has to live up to Reidel.

I don't care who's wearing what number (and think it speaks volumes to what Mullen thinks of AR's abilities to give it to him). But why would anyone who opposes the idea be a racist? That's a VERY broad brush to be painting with.

Again we demand - WHEN will get a "I see what you did there" emoji"? This post cries out for that recognition of cleverness
