Sorry if there's another thread on this, but why would CBS let ESPN have this game? Don't they get first pick of SEC games? And, if so, why would you give this plum to a competitor and choose to televise Bama v A&M?

Ulterior motive: Annoys me they get to play this game at night.

I imagine because they just had us against Auburn and they will have us again against Georgia by the end of the month.

See the league office. LSU wanted this to be their BIG night game of the year. Two undefeated top 10 SEC teams, instead CBS gets a another Bama game (3rd one so far already) against another average at best team, see also USCe & Ole Miss. Regardless of whether they had UF last week, CBS had to of really wanted this game instead.

There used to be a provision that ESPN got to pick first once/ year.
It would make sense if this is what happened and how we ended up at night in Red Stick.

Yep and I would add that despite what some suggest, there is intrigue for the Bama/A&M matchup.

They picked before we played AU. They thought we would lose to AU.

Remember back in the 90s when LSU stunk? The Gerry DiNardo-Curly Hallman years? I remember the 1995 game was played at noon. I long for those days...

Let's be honest, the only intrigue when bama plays like this is to tune in and hope someone (A&M in this case) knocks them off their pedestal.

They had Chris Fowler and SOS (not at the same time) on Finebaum the other day and Fowler, when referring to SOS, brings up the 1997 game. I'm thinking, "this is exactly what people mean re. ESPN bias." So, 11 years, 1 MNC and the memory that comes to mind from all of that is this particular game? No mention of the 58-3 asswhipping put on them in 93 (still, I believe, worst loss in program history and certainly worst in Death Valley by a longshot).

Love SOS. Brings up his 11-1 record against LSU immediately when he comes on air.

LSU probably filed a lawsuit against CBS to make them pass on us so they could play us at night.

CBS passed because they thought we'd lose to Auburn. They also passed on the BAMA / LSU game for the first time in ages because they were tired of watching LSU get blown out.

BAMA stomped them 29-0 last year in BR. So they figured it would be worse in Alabama this year.

I'm glad it's on ESPN. It will shut them up when the Gators beat LSWho.

  17. My bet is CBS wants bama/lsu at night and they needed something to bargain with. They've already had their one allotted night game so they're making deals.

Edit: just to clarify, in this situation CBS would have let ESPN have the big game (us) by taking bama/a&m this week, and they'd get to play another of their picks of the week (bama/lsu) at night. Since they've already played georgia/notre dame at night, this is the only way they could put that game in prime time. They're betting (safe bet) that it's going to be a huge game, and banking on LSU beating us to make it a likely top 3-4 matchup and a game with massive SEC and national stakes. They've done this before - see 2011 bama/lsu.

Bama/lsu will have to be 3:30 this year on cbs. They did not choose that weekend as one of their two double header weekends this year. They usually do which allows them to have it at night.
