It closes tomorrow, April 30th. I guess we could lose someone else but I don't think they would have much time to find a new team. There are a few positions that could have benefited from having an experienced player but I really like the roster.
We are on our way to building what Uf needs in a football team Billy will be here for the long run and he is surrounded by a great staff GO GATORS
Haven’t lost anyone that matters yet- and I hope that is the case after tomorrow. Would be awesome. but technically we haven’t added anyone yet. We got a walk on tight end. That is it. Walk on can come and to anytime since not on scholarship. There is hope we get the OL from USC but nothing announced yet.
I guess the big kid from USC West would be the big "cherry" from the April Transfer Portal window, should he come. Should UF pick him up, I would call the April 24 transfer portal period to be pretty successful for Napier this round. I know many pundits were looking for the Gator to add an experienced wide reciever, unless something happens in that direction soon, (as in today), I guess it's wait until the next portal round opens up.
Recruits have to get their names in the portal by close date (30 Apr). They do not have to be signed by then. Napier still has time to get some other players from the portal. Also, there is still a scholarship limit of 85. I believe we are currently at 84. That means if Zandamela choses the Gators we are back at 85 and someone else would have to leave/get forced out in order to take anymore.
The “experts” were also predicting that we would have mass defections, and that didn’t happen. Speaks to the chemistry of the team Napier is building
I was thinking the same skink - Very few transfers - to me that suggests an awful tight locker room. Napier is slowly building his case going into year 3.
What do they do when you have 88 people on your roster and you boot them off the team right before the season starts?
The last three weren’t going to play anyway, but they still have options. Become a ga like simonds, keep your scholly, and remain with the team. Become a walk on, pay your own way, and remain with the team. Transfer down a level and play. Transfer to another d1 team and sit out a year. Just to name a few. The guys at the bottom know who they are, and I’m sure they can count. Luckily, we shouldn’t have this issue as our numbers are in good shape at the moment.
If this lineman from USC comes, we are full. So my question is if we were to add another wide receiver and the portal is closed what about the guy on the team now? I guess if they gonna move they should’ve moved already.
I love the fact that Napier had built a culture that makes high character kids want to stay. Would like us to balance it with a little more ruthlessness in managing the bottom of the roster like the other top programs. I do understand that the second can hurt the first as well.
You don’t think processing out all those Mullen recruits is ruthless enough? It’s been a mass exodus the last few years.
Couple of interesting things on College Football podcasts yesterday: 1) On3 reported yesterday that Cormani was having a bit of difficulty finding a new home in the transfer portal. 2) In other "Colorado" news, Sanders "Ex" posted on line a rather interesting video about the kids, Neon and Colorado. Neons daughter (womans basketball) is leaving the Buffalos. Neon posted she was making a huge mistake. Mom promptly got on the podcast air waves explaining the Sanders "kids" went to Colorado to support "Him". Considering neons daughter was seeing no playing time and wanted to move on, "mom" created a scathing commentary that Neon was (as usual) being selfish and (as usual) everything is about (him) with his "mistake" comments. Considering the personal nature of the comments and the fact Sanders has built a career on media manuipulation and always nibbling at the edges of controversey, I suspect he was none too pleased with the video. It is unflattering, suggests he was an "absent" father figure, and is only concerned about enhancing his "own" reputation. Considering he is FSU scum, I rather enjoyed the (ex's) soiree, which spells out his character in no uncertain terms.
It's a bit of a backwards situation. She ain't getting enough playing time and wants him to hit the portal.
Anyone just casually following along and with a couple of ounces of common sense would be able to ascertain that Deion is and always has been mainly about Deion, a self-absorbed prima-donna, so an article of this nature is unsurprising to me. Of course there is a Nolie poster or two lacking those two ounces or so that will be along any minute now to defend his Neon-ness vociferously.
